vanilla spiced chai protein. #gardenoflife

As a hater of mornings and breakfast, the thought of eating when I wake is far from my mind. Sadly, as much as I can push off eating and can power down more coffee than I should admit, I need to eat something in the morning. I need something that will fill me up, and require a very small amount of work. If you looked at my kitchen in the morning, you would assume that I was cooking a super healthy breakfast...but I am just a little insane about sending my kids with a variety of organic, whole foods in their lunches. SO, it looks like a bomb went off in our kitchen! You will find me cooking, cutting, chopping and preparing some pretty awesome lunches for them, yet I find it really easy to ignore my own needs. Typical mom move.

I started exploring the world of juicing and smoothie making. It helped a ton, but was still time consuming in the midst of the morning rush. I finally decided to look into trying protein powders. All of my past experiences were pretty bad. Chalky, nasty tasting stuff. Even though I was buying it at health food stores, there really wasn't a lot of truly healthy things contained in these powders. I gave up years ago and never though to go back, until I learned about Garden Of Life. I have yet to be disappointed in their products. The flavors are unbelievable, and the ingredients are mind blowing! Here is a just a few pointers why this powder is different from the rest:

I have been using the Vanilla Spiced Chai powder for a little while now. Typically in the past I would play, hid the protein powder. How much yogurt, fruit and other things can I add so that I do not have to taste the chalkiness. Well friends, this is the first time I have simple mixed a protein powder in just plain almond milk. No fruit smoothie, no extra juice, just the milk and powder.  I will caution you that it is thick. I drink it immediately, otherwise it is too think to consume. But since it tastes so good, it is really easy to drink up a 8oz glass.

I am looking to drop a few pounds this month and will be upping my protein drinks to twice a day. Thankfully it isn't torture and the vanilla spiced chai is my favorite so far. :)
